Building maintenance technician
Working in collaboration with the property manager, the Building Maintenance Technician occupies a field and versatile role. In addition to supervising maintenance departments and subcontractors, he or she actively participates in maintenance work, minor repairs and daily interventions. The position requires an active presence in the field to ensure the safety, compliance and quality of the buildings, as well as a high level of satisfaction from tenants and partners.

Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, common areas and equipment, and complete the required documentation and reports.
- Help maintain the cleanliness, safety, regulatory compliance and overall appearance of the properties, including interior and exterior areas.
- Perform minor repairs and first-line maintenance interventions, and respond efficiently to tenant service requests, including emergencies.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and service-level standards.
- Identify, report and follow up on deficiencies, equipment failures and recurring issues with management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation, reports and equipment inventories in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- Keep workshops and mechanical rooms clean, organized and safe.
- Support the property management team with operational planning and the preparation of operating budgets.
- Be available to respond to emergency situations during and outside regular business hours, based on operational requirements.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What we are looking for
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in building maintenance, preferably in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Good understanding of building mechanical systems and applicable safety standards.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, fire prevention requirements, fire safety legislation and WHMIS.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of Yardi is considered an asset.
